Creating the look for two main wall graphics

Rob Brill created the visual design for the two primary wall graphics used in the Elmira Makers space at IncubatorWorks: the large Elmira Makers identity graphic and the oversized create wall graphic.

The work was designed for a physical maker environment, so the graphics needed to remain simple, bold, and readable at architectural scale. The goal was to give the space visual energy without competing with the tools, projects, classes, and activity happening around it.

Designed locally, produced locally

The artwork was created for Elmira Sign Co., which handled production and installation of the finished wall graphics. The completed pieces were installed at IncubatorWorks in Elmira, New York.

The finished graphics are now a visible part of the Elmira Makers environment and can be seen in photographs from the space.

Graphic design that becomes part of a place

This project is a good example of environmental graphic design: artwork created not just for a screen or printed handout, but to function as part of the physical space itself. Large-format graphics, interior wall branding, signage, and visual identity all have to work from across a room as well as up close.
